Century of Self
Century of Self is an excellent BBC documentary on the history of Public Relations. The first film begins with a look at Edward Bernays (Sigmund Freud’s nephew), who used Freudian Psychology to develop the technique behind public relations. These videos map out the history of public relations, and the techniques used by corporations and government to manage/manipulate the masses.
Why should people look into the history of public relations? It’s kind of like a nuclear bomb. You don’t want the technology to get out. But if one country gets one, the other countries are not on equal ground unless they have one. Information can work the same way.

This video is also available on Amazon and can be rented on DVD from NetFlix. The video on Amazon has some bad reviews as to the quality so I’m buying a copy to see if that’s a bunch of crap. I’ll report back when I see if there’s any basis to the claims.
