Take Action Fight Fascism

I would like to make perfectly clear, when I say “How to Fight Fascism” I don’t mean a real fight. No one should ever propose violence. If you do, you are only giving the government an excuse to hall you away and silence you.

It is going to take Gondi like resistance to make a difference in the world. The best example is Hamas in Israel. Nothing would make Israel and the U.S. look worse than a peaceful resistance. Every time someone acts out in violence, that only gives the powers that be an excuse to crush their movement — and crush them they will.

Never trust anyone who advocates violence. They are either fullish, or a mole. If you have watched the film Unconstitutional or read up on some of the lawsuits filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, you know there’s a problem with police and federal agents infiltrated peace activist groups to try to provoke violent behavior. This is only to discredit the group, and provide a reason to crack down on them. Never fall into this trap.

What can be Done?

There is a lot of information on fascism. Knowing what fascism is and that it is an issue is the first step to rectifying the problem. But what can you do once you know it’s an issue? Many people may feel the world is hopeless and give up. No one ever accomplished anything by giving up. Would the U.S. exist today if those first explorers where quitters? The people who work year after year to take your freedom away aren’t quitters.

I would like to propose three intertwined key points for overcoming fascism. Of course I don’t propose this is easy to do. If it was a simple solution, fascism wouldn’t be a problem.

Take Back Your Time

Take Back Your Time by John De GraafThe first key point is to take back your time. Everything depends on this. There is a great organization called TimeDay.org Chaired by John De Graaf. I don’t believe John De Graaf is trying to champion a movement against fascism. What Mr. De Graaf is trying to champion is a better quality of life for people in the U.S. To paraphrase one of TimeDay.org’s slogans “Spending Time With Your Family Is A Family Value.” It goes way beyond that though. In John De Graaf’s book Take Back Your Time, he examines the issue of time poverty in the US and how to fight it. Every person in the country needs to read this book.

I believe the mind set or public opinion that allows both men and women to work 50+ hours per week has been engineered, by Berneys type methodology. Edward Berneys would be proud indeed. By convincing both men and woman they need to work so many hours to stay ahead, buy all the junk they don’t need, and a buy a larger house than they can afford, they are disarming the general public.

When I say “they” I mean the U.S. Government and Corporate America.

The media and government encourages the average American to be in debt. When you are in debt you have to work exorbitant hours to pay for the debt. This completely incapacitates the average American from political participation.

When the U.S. Government decided to issue tax rebate checks for 2008, did they say pay off those credit cards so they won’t go to collection? Did they say put that money toward your house payment so you won’t go into foreclosure? No. They said go spend it all to stimulate the economy. Somehow it’s patriotic to spend every last dime you have.

Women have been convinced they are not free unless they are working. A woman can’t work, keep up around the house, raise quality citizens (children), and be politically active at the same time. What the media keeps telling women is “women want better daycare,” “women want after-school programs.” Many women probably hear this and believe it. In reality you are giving up the most important thing in the world: time with your child so the child can be raised by someone else. You have to work to pay for this. All so women can go off like good workers and make more money to spend. I know many women may disagree, but I’m not the only person who has noticed this. See How I was Discriminated Against as A Woman.

Many families can’t afford to survive now days without both parents working. Why is that? The problem is people are so busy working 40+ hours per week, they can’t even explore that issue. (You may want to check out inflationtax.blogspot.com for some answers.)

Stay Informed

Lou Dobbs War On The Middle ClassThe second key point is to stay informed. Keep up on political issues and bills that are being presented for debate. You have to look at both sides of an issue and not blindly take one sides based on your political affiliation. I don’t believe any one group has all the answers. Staying informed goes hand in hand with the third key point. Whether your are liberal or conservative, Lou Dobb’s War On the Middle Class is a great resource for being informed.

Get Involved

The third key point is get involved. Learn how the political system actually works. This will eat up your time and keep you informed.

One thing most people don’t understand is how the candidates get on the ballot. It’s actually really simple. In a nut shell, whether it’s the Democratic Party or the Republican party, people go to caucuses in their neighborhood every two years. They nominate delegates at these caucuses. The delegates nominate who winds up on the ballot for the party. The delegates have the real power. Even if you don’t want to become one, you should show up at your caucus(es) so you know who the delegates are. You can then present the delegates with information. Many of them are pretty old, and don’t know how to get around on the Internet. When delegates get upset, candidates listen because the delegates can keep them off the ballot. For more information view Caucus 101.

How do you get informed and involved? Sign up for email alerts and message boards. Join local action groups. Join a meetup group to organize caucuses. The Bill of Rights Defense Committee is organizing all across the U.S. to enact local legislation to invalidate the Patriot Act. Write to your Senators and Congressman using congress.org

Congress.org is great for contacting representatives, but they did not send out an alert about H.R. 1955. Their alerts are sanitized. I was first notified about the bill by RestoreTheRepublic.com

Post flyers. Most people don’t even know this bill exists because the media is not reporting on it. Get the Stop the Violent Radicalized Homegrown Terrorist Act Flyer You can upload this flyer on your own local meetup board or some variation of it. Post it in coffee houses and any place you can find a public message board.
